The 2014 record in the binder is not a poster. It is a save-the-date card the size of a postcard, and a sponsorship letter typed on the organization’s letterhead and dated September 26, the day before the Mass.
The letter is worth reading for what it is: a small nonprofit thanking a donor for a gold and silver sponsorship, listing exactly where his money would go, and reminding him that the Pink Mass was at four the next afternoon at St. Michael’s and the dinner dance at six in the Elks Lodge banquet room on Tiffany Street. It closes by thanking him for believing in the mission. Down the left margin runs the board of directors, fourteen names, all volunteers. One of them, Angela Dell’Aera-Jachym, is still the name on the contact line for the 2026 Healing Mass.
That year the proceeds went to Cancer House of Hope, to Rays of Hope and prostate cancer care through the Baystate Health Foundation, and to Mercy Medical Center. The letterhead carried the mission statement the group had used since the beginning: to raise funds to improve the health of people in our communities by supporting local agencies and raising awareness of ways in which people can prevent cancer.
